Arrival day: Lisbon

During the first evening we will have dinner and a little get-together, to give you a better impression what you have to expect for the next days.

We will have the possibility to do some bike fitting and all early arrivers receive a first impression of Lisbon on a short bike ride though the city.

1st stage: Lisbon – Azeitao

With a last view from Rio Tejo we leave Lisbon behind and directly find the first natural pearls: The beaches and sand stone cliffs at Costa Caparica, the pilgrimage center at Cabo Espichel and the natural park of Serra da Arrabida are a first highlight right outside of Lisbon and a good warm up for our next days. A diverse mix out of streets, dirt roads and coastal trails leads us finally to Azeitao, a small village located between the wine yards of Palmela and Setubal.

60km, 900m inclination

2nd stage: Aceitao – Lagoa Santo Andre

Shortly after our start we reach the regional capital Setubal. After a quick loop through the historc city below the medieval castles of Setubal and Palmela, we take a last ferry boat over the next river. Southside of Rio Sado the white sand strands of Peninsula Troia are waiting for us. A long, but easy stage leads us fist along the peninsula and later through the endless cork forests until the lonesome lagoon Lagoa Santo Anrdé

80km, 450m inclination

3rd stage: Lagoa Santo Andre – Milfontes

It’s time to leave the coast and discover the backyards! Cork oaks, free running black porks and typical country houses and farms dominate this characteristic region of Alentejo.
The impression changes again when we return to the coast. Big water resorts with hundreds of birds and two of the most typical villages are still waiting for us this day: the charming blue and white coastal town and finally the chic town Vila Nova de Milfontes with castles and mansions at a picturesque river bay.

70km, 650m inclination

4th stage: Milfontes – Odeceixe

We reached one of the prettiest coasts on our way now: The national park Costa Vicentina is a true natural pearl. Seagals and storks cross the wide bays with the characteristic huge gray cliffs and lonesome beaches!

Through this sparsely populated coastal sections we reach Rio Odeceixe. The beach at the delta is considered to be one of Portugals most pretty beaches and a spectacular finish line for this day

40km, 700m inclination

5th stage: Odeceixe – Carrapateira

We reached the Algarve! The sixth day comes with a relatively short stage. The pretty beaches around Odemira, the famous surfer spots and the historic old town of Aljezur would already be enough for a day. But the real highlight is the 4 km long round course out to the cliffs at our daily destination Carrapateira, one of the most impressive views to the cliffs of the western Algarve!

70km, 650m inclination

6th stage: Odeceixe – Lagos

Our final stage will challenge us for a last time! While the cliffs are raising, the closer we come to the Cabo Sao Vicente, the south-western end of Portugal, the wind does as well! Lonesome coastal trails with though ups and downs we see how form and color of the rocks is slowly changing. When the day still starts with huge gray cliffs on the west coast, during the day landscape changes until we reach Lagos’ red sand stone coast with the famous Ponte da Piedade.

55km, 750m inclination

1st stage: Lisbon City Trails

Time to arrive and discover Lisbon. On E-MTBs we do a loop through Lisbon. Oldtown, gardens, trails, palaces and viewpoints. We take you on an introduction up and down Lisbons hilly old town and the city forest Monsanto Park.

40km, 800m inclination (E-Bikes)

2nd stage: Sintra Loop

Time to get familar with our bikes and Lisbons soil. The best for a warm up is a loop around Serra de Sintra. On a mix out of single trails and dirt roads. The ride around the famous mountain ranch outside of Lisbons offers unbeatable panorama views and much more.

The evergreen mountain full of cultural hotspots and breathtaking nature, is class of it own! From the oldtown of Sintra we go down to extended Praia Grande bordered by the massive rocks of Serra de Sintra. After a climb to the top of the rocks and a lunch break with breathtaking views around Cabo da Roca, a great singletrail leads to the surfer spot Praia Guincho and later along the ocean to Cascais.

We finish our day in Cascais with a beer on the beach and a shuttle back to Sintra.

45km, 1000m inclination

3rd stage: Sintra trail day (bike shuttle)

It’s action time. With a bike shuttle we will trail more than 2000m this morning. Kamekaze, Trilho dos burros or trilho das pontes, only to name a few of them: From the peaks to the ocean, from the south to the north to the west, we will do all must-rides of Serra de Sintra!

In the afternoon it’s recovery time. Hanging out in the gardens or on the beach, visiting the cultural sides of Sintra or simply riding on, this afternoon it’s all up to you!

40km, 2000m downhill only (shuttle)

4th stage: Trail surfing from Sintra to Ericeira

Much less known as a bike resort, but at least as pretty is the coast from Sintra to Ericeira! Between high cliffs and long beaches we accumulate some challanging uphills. But every climb is worth it! The trails on top of the cliffs is one of the best Portugal got to offer! The coast between Sintra and Ericeira in wide parts is a natural bike park! On the way from Sintra to Ericeira one beautiful beach follows the next one. The view reaches from Cabo da Roca until Peniche.

Ericeira is a picturesc coastal and fisherman village that invites to stay for longer. Here we will find our second accomodation, where our luggage already waits for us.

45km, 1100m inclination

5th stage: Lizandro Trails

No pain, no gain, also on our last day. A true jungle trail leads us up the little river Lizandro. Leaving Ericeira to the interior we discover the variety of Portuguese agriculture. Wine, Olives, Figs, and all kind of seasonal fruits border our way. Ancient ways leads us through abandoned villages and to historic wind mills before we reach Mafra with the impressive Palacio Real which recently became UNESCO world herritage.

After a quick bite in Mafra we return to our hotel in Ericeira and finish up this week with an adequate dinner and some beers!
